Matty Joe was one of the "four amigos". He, his big brother Kieran and his cousins Harry and Eliot, played, laughed and squabbled over football, cricket and all kinds of games. He always won at card games and Monopoly with brilliant mathematical strategies. He loved watching football and analysed deeply the tactics, the players' skills and the probability of success. He was usually right in his reading of the match. He was a bright young man and a brilliant student who wanted to make his mark in the world and there was every indication that he would have made that mark. But it was not to be. Suddenly, and without any warning he was gone. He died, aged just 15, on 18 January 2015 of a massive brain haemorrhage, probably caused by a tumour. We don't understand why he was taken from us. We miss him deeply and the potential that was lost to this world. We will never forget Matty Joe and he will live forever in our hearts and minds, and that hole in our family will always be there. We enjoyed sharing his life with him and he enjoyed the time he had. But his candlelight fund will quietly work to make a big difference in this world - an impact, which he didn't get the opportunity to manage himself.
